Dr. Brad Hayes has served chiropractic on many
levels.  Twice president of the Chiropractic Assoc.
of Oklahoma, he was also voted Chiropractor of
the Year twice, as well as president of COCSA
twice!  He has reviewed thousands of claims and
has been involved in numerous audits as both the
expert for the plaintiff and the defendant.
This seminar alerts the chiropractor to the
audit processes that are taking place in health
care today.  Often the audits turn into fines,
sanctions, financial liability, and sometimes,
criminal prosecution.  The federal government,
as part of the HIPAA law, extended some of
the Federal protections for Federal programs
such as Medicare and Medicaid, to the private
sector.  The HIPAA law also developed a self
auditing process for providers to use to insure
compliance with various programs, thus
mitigating this potential liability.  Often
unwittingly, and usually due to
misinformation, many providers become
non-compliant, and frequently do not discover
this until an outside audit is done.  By this
time, it is too late and the provider is liable.
The purpose of this seminar is to break down
this audit process to a simplified form,
following the federal program, and adding
additional points to insure a practice is in
compliance with Federal, State and Third Party
Payer guidelines.  This seminar explains the
audit process, what is included, specifically
how it is done, the tools used by auditors, and
highlights typical areas of problem for the
provider.
