I grew up on a rather large farm in north western Ohio with 3 brothers and a sister. We raised mostly corn, beans and wheat but also had hog farrowing with about 300 hogs at any one time. The nice thing about growing up on the farm was that I was highly motivated to do something else, other than farm. In undergrad, I played basketball and ran track…studied some and was planning on going to dental school. During a science honor’s event, I heard a chiropractor talk. I didn’t know anything about chiropractic but I thought: I’ll delay dental school for a semester and check out a chiropractic college. I decided on Logan Chiropractic College.
In undergraduate, playing sports, I had a chronic pain that was called a ‘bruised metatarsal’. The athletic trainer ‘knew everything’ about it and the only therapy was ice and taping but it always hurt and always affected my performance, even though I still set the school record in the 800 meters. I played on the Logan basketball team and one of the upper classmen saw me play and asked what was wrong with my foot. I told him about the bruised metatarsal. He took me to one of the instructors that specialized in extremities and after a brief examination, he adjusted my foot and the pain was immediately gone…GONE…just like that. Wow, I was amazed and really annoyed at the ignorant and arrogant athletic trainer. I knew that I had made the best decision to be a chiropractor.
What I really want doctors to realize is that most or many conditions, even serious diseases often have simple, safe, natural and inexpensive solutions and that the improvements will usually be seen in 2 weeks but maybe 2 months if it is going to work.
