Lower Crossed Syndrome: Assessing Postural Imbalances and Improving Patient Function

  • LIVE-STREAM Central Time (map)

Is your patient’s low back, hip, or lower-extremity complaint really coming from where they feel it? Lower Crossed Syndrome is a common pattern of muscular imbalance that can affect pelvic positioning, lumbar mechanics, hip function, movement patterns, and overall biomechanics.

In this clinically focused CE seminar, chiropractors will learn how to recognize the postural and muscular patterns associated with Lower Crossed Syndrome and translate those findings into practical chiropractic care strategies. Discover how muscle tightness, weakness, inhibition, and overactivity can create compensations throughout the pelvis, lumbar spine, hips, and lower extremities.

What You'll Learn

  • Recognize Lower Crossed Syndrome — Identify the characteristic postural changes and muscular imbalances that may contribute to common low-back, hip, and movement-related complaints.

  • Assess Posture, Pelvic Position & Movement — Develop a systematic approach to evaluating pelvic alignment, lumbar curvature, hip mobility, stability, muscle function, and movement patterns.

  • Identify the Muscular Imbalances — Understand how tight, shortened, inhibited, and weakened muscles can influence posture, movement, and spinal mechanics.

  • Connect Posture to Biomechanics — Explore how pelvic and muscular dysfunction can affect the lumbar spine, hips, gait, lower-extremity mechanics, and overall movement efficiency.

  • Recognize Contributing Factors — Learn how prolonged sitting, poor movement patterns, muscle imbalances, repetitive activities, and other lifestyle factors may contribute to persistent dysfunction.

  • Apply Chiropractic Care Strategies — Explore how chiropractic adjustments, soft-tissue approaches, stretching, strengthening, and corrective exercise can be incorporated into a comprehensive patient-care approach.

  • Use Corrective Exercise Effectively — Learn practical strategies to improve muscle activation, flexibility, pelvic control, core stability, mobility, and functional movement.

  • Strengthen Patient Education — Give patients practical strategies they can use outside the office to reinforce treatment goals and support improved movement and function.

Look Beyond the Low Back

Lower Crossed Syndrome challenges chiropractors to look beyond the location of a patient's pain and evaluate the entire postural and biomechanical picture. By understanding the muscular relationships surrounding the pelvis, lumbar spine, and hips, practitioners can better recognize contributing factors and develop more individualized approaches to care.

Take a closer look at the patterns behind the problem—and expand your clinical approach to assessing and managing lower-body dysfunction.

Dr. Glenn R. Brown has more than 22 years of private practice experience and has remained actively involved in chiropractic education and mentorship throughout his career. He has lectured on behalf of University of Bridgeport, Texas Chiropractic College, Sherman College of Chiropractic, and Life University, sharing his clinical knowledge and practical experience with chiropractic students and practicing chiropractors.

Dr. Brown has also served as a field doctor and preceptor for students from Palmer College of Chiropractic and Sherman College of Chiropractic. During his final two terms at the Palmer Clinic, he supervised chiropractic student externs through the Gold Coat Program, beginning his involvement in chiropractic education and mentorship.

His commitment to education began with the Chiropractic Fellowship of Pennsylvania and has continued through professional lectures, seminars, and presentations for chiropractors, students, patients, and the public.

Dr. Brown believes that educating patients, mentoring future chiropractors, and sharing clinical knowledge are among the most rewarding opportunities in the chiropractic profession.

It also tells us if you just left the room on your own preference. You will get the number of hours you were logged in.

If we have technical or electrical outages: we will email you to let you know what’s happening. This is rare, and usually only happens when there are strong storms in the area of the instructor. In most cases, the instructor goes to his office/home or to a local hotel to reconnect. You will be disconnected if this happens, so check your email for any word from us on what is happening.
