Know the Signs, Know Your Responsibility: Child Abuse Reporting

  • LIVE-STREAM Eastern Time (map)

Healthcare professionals play an important role in protecting children and may be among the first to notice signs of abuse or neglect. This seminar will provide practitioners with the knowledge and awareness needed to recognize potential indicators of child abuse and understand what to do when concerns arise.

The course will examine the physical, behavioral, and emotional signs associated with various forms of abuse and neglect, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. Participants will also explore risk factors, appropriate professional responses, documentation considerations, and mandatory reporting responsibilities.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Identify physical and behavioral indicators that may signal abuse or neglect

  • Recognize patterns and risk factors that warrant closer attention

  • Distinguish between common childhood injuries and potential signs of abuse

  • Understand mandatory reporting laws and professional responsibilities

  • Navigate appropriate steps when abuse or neglect is suspected

  • Apply sound documentation and communication practices

  • Understand the healthcare professional’s role in helping protect children

This seminar provides essential knowledge for practitioners who want to be better prepared to recognize the signs, understand their responsibilities, and take appropriate action when a child may be at risk.

Attendees can leave the seminar at any time by clicking the  “Leave Meeting” button. They will receive however many hours they were actually in the meeting.  Refer to CE hours (below) for information on how many CE hours the attendee will obtain if they leave early.

Technical Difficulties
If you have internet or electrical issues that disrupt your attendance, just let us know as soon as possible by emailing us and giving your name and the title of the seminar you were attending when you had these issues. Zoom will have documented the time you were logged in, and it also lets us know if you experienced any technical or electrical outages or issues. It also tells us if you just left the room on your own preference. You will get the number of hours you were logged in.

If we have technical or electrical outages: we will email you to let you know what’s happening. This is rare, and usually only happens when there are strong storms in the area of the instructor. In most cases, the instructor goes to his office/home or to a local hotel to reconnect. You will be disconnected if this happens, so check your email for any word from us on what is happening.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy
You may cancel your registration or transfer to another seminar of equal or lesser cost up until the Monday prior to the scheduled seminar.
