Personal Injury Clinical Mastery: From Trauma to Recovery

  • CINCINNATI, OH Holiday Inn Express, 5311 Hetzel Rd. Cincinnati, OH (map)

This comprehensive course focuses on the clinical science behind personal injury (PI) injuries and provides chiropractors with practical strategies for identifying the source of pain, developing an appropriate treatment plan, and helping patients achieve the best possible recovery.

You’ll learn how to recognize the unique patterns and mechanisms of injury that occur in trauma, perform a thorough history and examination, identify probable pain generators, and develop treatment plans based on the patient’s actual injuries and stage of recovery.

Understand the Injuries You Treat

Go beyond the traditional concept of whiplash and explore the full spectrum of injuries associated with personal injury cases, including:

Cervical and thoracic injuries

Lumbar and pelvic injuries

Soft-tissue injuries

Referred pain patterns

Joint and biomechanical injuries

Other common injuries resulting from collisions and falls

As vehicle safety systems continue to evolve, the nature of collision-related injuries is changing. This course examines the current science of trauma and injury and how chiropractors can effectively evaluate and treat these patients.

From Examination to Treatment

Learn a systematic approach to:

Taking a comprehensive injury history

Performing an effective orthopedic and neurological examination

Identifying the likely source of a patient's pain

Understanding the phases of injury and recovery

Determining appropriate treatment based on the patient's condition

Monitoring progress and modifying treatment when necessary

Recognizing when the clinical evidence does—or does not—support an injury

Document the Care You Provide

Excellent clinical care must be supported by excellent documentation. Learn how to clearly document the patient's mechanism of injury, clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment, and progress so that the medical record accurately reflects the care being provided.

The course also covers important PI practice considerations, including proper billing, depositions, and courtroom testimony, helping you protect both your patient and your practice.
