Upper & Lower Crossed Syndromes: Recognizing Postural Imbalances & Restoring Functional Movement

  • GRAND RAPIDS, MI Holiday Inn, 3063 Lake Eastbrook Blvd.., SE Grand Rapids, MI (map)

Postural imbalances can create movement problems that extend far beyond what you see on the surface. Upper and Lower Crossed Syndromes are common patterns of muscular imbalance that can contribute to altered biomechanics, restricted mobility, compensatory movement, and recurring musculoskeletal complaints.

In this clinically focused seminar, chiropractors will learn how to recognize the patterns, identify the underlying muscle dysfunction, and develop targeted strategies to improve movement and function.

Participants will gain a practical framework for evaluating patients with Upper and Lower Crossed Syndromes and learn how postural and muscular imbalances can influence the spine, pelvis, extremities, and overall biomechanics.

What You'll Learn

  • Recognize the Pattern — Identify the characteristic postural changes and muscular imbalances associated with Upper and Lower Crossed Syndromes.

  • Improve Your Assessment Skills — Learn practical approaches for evaluating posture, muscle function, mobility, stability, and dysfunctional movement patterns.

  • Connect Muscle Imbalances to Biomechanics — Understand how muscle tightness, weakness, inhibition, and overactivity can alter joint mechanics and movement.

  • Identify Contributing Factors — Look beyond the immediate complaint to recognize postural and muscular dysfunction that may contribute to recurring problems.

  • Develop More Targeted Treatment Plans — Learn how to integrate chiropractic care with stretching, strengthening, corrective exercise, and other supportive strategies.

  • Apply Corrective Exercise Principles — Discover practical techniques designed to improve muscle balance, activation, mobility, stability, and movement efficiency.

  • Enhance Patient Outcomes — Develop strategies that complement chiropractic treatment and help patients participate more actively in their own care.

  • Put It Into Practice — Use clinical examples and practical application to connect assessment findings with appropriate treatment strategies.

Take Your Clinical Assessment to the Next Level

Rather than simply treating the area where a patient experiences discomfort, this seminar encourages practitioners to look at the bigger biomechanical picture. Understanding how muscular imbalances and postural dysfunction interact can help chiropractors develop more individualized approaches to patient care.

Through clinical examples and practical application, participants will learn how to translate their findings into more focused treatment plans, corrective exercise recommendations, and patient education strategies.
